Dent May - Best Friend
It’s hard to get over how good this song sounds to me today. I dunno if it’s the Spring-time-needing-Summer feeling I have today or what but this breezy 70s-pop song hits me so right.
New album drops June 12th, 2012 out on Paw Tracks.

Blacks& - The Race is On
At the beginning when I first heard this song, I thought I was getting into the California Games (the NES game) soundtrack. But what evolved was this dinnertime-island-surf-pop vibe fueled by “whiskey and head nods”. Consisting of Donald Eley (The Sea of Cortez) and Tiger (NazcarNation) and Jules Bellin (POLLS) and Jutty Shark these L.A.-natives tastey gems that shape a sunny Sunday evening.
They’ve released a little EP [where this song is free] themselves which you can pick up on their bandcamp and iTunes.

Pure Bathing Club - Ivory Coast
After I’ve been sitting on this for close to 2 week now, I still haven’t figured out what I’ve wanted to write about this. All that comes back to me is after I heard it, is I immediately pre-ordered the EP from Father / Daughter Records due to the downright gorgeousness of this track. The harmony, the slight jangle, the elevator orchestra, the chord progression, just everything combined. It’s as if you took at the angst from Dum Dum Girls and slowed it down to 3/4ths the BPM they roll on with. My homegirl Jessi should expect some pestering for more tunes from this Portland band.
You can pre-order the album right now [which I highly suggest] and download this track fo’ free.
Love this.

The sweetest thing I’ve ever known
Was like the kiss on the collarbone
Soft caress of happiness
The way you walk, your style of dress
I wish I didn’t get so weak
Ooo, baby, just to hear you speak
Makes me argue just to see
How much you’re in love with me
See, like a queen, a queen upon her throne
It was the sweet, sweet, sweetest thing I know

She is very clever, too clever for a woman. She lacks the indefinable charm of weakness. It is the feet of clay that make the gold of the image precious.

Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?
